Sarah Collins
First Assistant Director-General of Portfolio and Transformation

Sarah commenced her career within the Australian Public Service in 1995. She has worked in a variety of positions, primarily in national security operations, investigations, analysis and policy.
Sarah has undertaken secondments with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) and worked within the Australian Delegation to the OECD in Paris, in support of social welfare policy initiatives. In 2011 Sarah was seconded to New Zealand where she was responsible for delivering organisational change to the national security apparatus.
More recently Sarah has worked closely with partners in Home Affairs, Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs to deliver multi-agency immigration and national security outcomes. Sarah was active in her home agency’s early digital transformation project, focusing on risk and has recently re-engaged in respect of identifying and delivering the proposed benefits of their updated reform program.
In early June 2022 Sarah was seconded to the Australian Signals Directorate as first assistant director general portfolio and Transformation where she is responsible for the leadership of ASD’s $10b REDSPICE program representing the largest transformation of the agency since its inception 75 years ago.
