Our rich annual awards program has a long history of recognising and encouraging excellence in public administration, and this has evolved and grown over time to reflect our diversifying membership base.

Some of our historical awards programs include:

• Annual Report Awards, which ran from 1983 to 2016.
• Prime Ministers’ Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management, which encouraged and recognised better practice and innovation in all levels of government in Australia. These awards ran for 19 years until 2019.
• Public Sector Innovation Awards, run in partnership with the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and the Public Sector Innovation Network (PSIN). These awards ran from 2016-2020 and recognised, celebrated and shared innovation in the Australian Public Service and the ACT Public Service. From 2021, this became the Spirit of Service Awards.
