Influencing without authority for EAs
Be the human connection. Build trust. Influence what happens next.
Course overview
The executive assistant role is evolving. As AI reshapes how routine work is completed, experienced EAs have an opportunity to step further into the distinctly human work of building trust, generating alignment, connecting priorities and influencing decisions. Influencing without authority helps EAs strengthen their relationships, communication and strategic influence so they can move beyond responsive support and become trusted partners who help shape what happens next.
Key learnings
- Build trusted relationships and strengthen credibility with executives and stakeholders.
- Adapt communication to different personalities, priorities and organisational contexts.
- Use strategic questions, judgement and influence to shape conversations, navigate resistance and support better decisions.
Who
Experienced executive assistants who support senior leaders, work across complex stakeholder networks and want to strengthen their communication, relationship-building and influencing skills to contribute strategically and shape outcomes without formal authority.
This course complements Excelling as an executive assistant, which strengthens the broad professional capabilities EAs need to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and operate confidently in complex environments. Influencing without authority for EAs builds on these foundations by focusing more deeply on strategic communication, trusted relationships and influencing outcomes without formal authority.
As the executive assistant role continues to evolve, technical capability and efficient delivery are no longer enough. Experienced EAs are increasingly expected to navigate complex relationships, connect people and priorities, anticipate emerging needs and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.
This course is designed for experienced Executive Assistants who want to broaden their relationship, communication and influencing skills and make a stronger strategic contribution within their organisation.
It is ideal if you:
- support senior executives in complex or fast-moving environments

AI can improve efficiency, organise information and automate routine tasks. However, it cannot replace the judgement, trust, emotional intelligence and organisational awareness that experienced EAs bring to their roles. This course will help you strengthen these human capabilities and apply them to influence people, decisions and outcomes.
