Applications and interviews for emerging leaders
Applications and interviews for emerging leaders
Showcase your strength to step forward with confidence in the public sector.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
This course is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in APS 4–5 (or equivalent) roles who are ready to take the next step in their public sector career.
It’s ideal if you want to refine your CV and pitch, strengthen your STAR examples, and build confidence speaking to a panel — all in a culturally safe, supportive environment where your story, strengths and lived experience are recognised and valued.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You’ll explore how to position your skills, cultural knowledge and achievements clearly against APS Work Level Standards and selection criteria.
Across three interactive half-day sessions, you’ll refine written applications, practise interview techniques and experience realistic panel simulations. You’ll work with peers to analyse job ads, identify what panels are really looking for, and plan practical next steps towards higher-level roles and leadership pathways.
DELIVERY
This course is delivered as three online half-day sessions via Microsoft Teams, facilitated by a senior Aboriginal leader who brings deep experience in leadership, recruitment and mentoring.
