Hend is currently the Assistant Director Governance, Planning and Performance at the Department of Finance. Since 2018, Hend has held a number of Corporate Services roles at the Australian Research Council, Murray–Darling Basin Authority, the Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Finance. Hend has worked across many areas of Corporate and Enabling functions, with experience in governance, secretariat, policy development and project delivery. In her current role, Hend leads a team responsible for Finance’s Business Planning framework, delivering the Department of Finance’s primary planning and reporting products and providing secretariat support for the governance committees. Hend graduated from the Australian National University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Middle Eastern and Central Asian studies. Hend comes from an Arabic speaking background and is proud to be a first generation Australian. Hend joined the IPAA Future Leaders Committee in late 2022 and has a strong interest in the APS reform agenda and finding solutions that promote excellence and pride across the APS.
