Are you a high-performing and experienced EL1 or EL2 in the Commonwealth or ACT public sector looking to expand your skills and network? IPAA ACT’s newest leadership program Navigating Leadership Challenges in the Public Sector, will give you the tools to succeed in your leadership journey by giving you a deeper understanding of contemporary public administration and leadership challenges.

You’ll be guided by seasoned experts through today’s complex public sector environment. Together, you will unpack its behavioural nuances, cultural complexities, and structural obstacles that can hamper effective and ethical leadership. Join us for immersive discussions, interactive workshops, and networking sessions, that will build your leadership capability and give you fresh insights on contemporary public sector issues.

This program will explore leadership with a focus on unlocking strategic shifts, addressing global trends, and exploring behavioural, cultural and structural challenges to leadership, diversity, and ethics. You will engage in discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities designed to your leadership journey in the public sector.

This program is delivered face-to-face.

Covering three days, the program consists of six sessions. Following each session, you will discuss the content in smaller mastermind groups consisting of 6-10 members. These groups serve as forums for collective problem-solving, drawing upon the diverse knowledge and experiences of the cohort while fostering connections and facilitating peer mentoring.

Day one starts with an exploration of systems thinking and its practical applications for established public sector leaders. You will then apply these concepts to analyse the latest global trends impacting governments, with a particular focus on their implications at the domestic level. Day two shifts the focus towards workplace dynamics, encompassing behaviour, culture, systems, and the embodiment of ethical leadership principles.

During a six-week interval, participants will apply the insights gained from days one and two to tackle a current leadership challenge within their respective workplaces.

Returning on day three, participants will engage in intensive career group coaching sessions, followed by an opportunity to reflect on their successes and challenges in implementing program concepts within their workplaces. Throughout the program, participants are encouraged to maintain active engagement with their mastermind groups, fostering ongoing peer mentoring and coaching relationships.

The Navigating Leadership Challenges in the Public Sector program is open to IPAA ACT corporate members only. Check if your organisation is a member here.

This program is specifically designed for  high-performing and experienced EL1 or EL2 (or equivalent in the private and academic sectors).
